
KADOMATSU ~ Mini Bamboo New Year's Display
A traditional Japanese kadomatsu (translates as ''pine gate''), a decoration of the New Year placed in pairs in front of homes to attract the spirits of the ancestors to ensure a good harvest. Customarily used in January and are considered temporary housing for spirits. Made of pine and bamboo with a few flower elements which represent longevity, prosperity and steadfastness. Measures 15 cm (6 inches) tall.
