Back in 2003, Yamaha created a singing synthesizer application software called VOCALOID that allowed users to synthesize singing by typing in lyrics and melody known as Vocaloid. A second version is soon to be released in December 2007 with a new robust engine that improves it's usability and synthesis quality.
