“In a time when a destructive fundamentalism fuels the Bush
Administration’s agenda, we might remember Christianity’s more
radical prophetic tradition.”
“Missionaries have always held a heroic and romantic place
within the Christian imagination. Even today churches regularly
collect contributions for the mission field. The reality, of course,
is very different. From its very beginnings, Christian missionaries
have inflicted tremendous harm on the peoples they “witnessed”
to.”

I saw the people with money in the bank, maintaining their credit card debts, claiming the money in the bank was for emergencies. Because you never know. Because if something happens you can’t live off your credit card. I am baffled. I now believe that there are four suckers born every minute.
I have also heard that in order to get a good credit score, you should get a small debt on your credit card and then pay it off in a few payments. Using cash and avoiding debt altogether, well that just doesn’t leave any traces, so that doesn’t count. And apparently you need a good credit score for some things that are pretty much unrelated to credit? I seem to have forgotten what sort of things that would be though, but perhaps it was about renting an apartment.
And that stuff about Jesus teaching non-violent resistance instead of passive acceptance/tolerance was interesting. I always interpreted those teachings as a suggestion to not assume the worst of people, and instead realise that when they do things that you don’t like, they may have reasons that make sense from their point of view. So getting angry at people for doing things that you don’t like might not be very constructive if you want them to change their behaviour.

on the subject of money, why doesn’t the gracious staff of krazykim consider Project Wonderful? it works for flipsidecomics.com
if you had started back when kk was hot, well you’d still be poor, but you’d have a few bucks for sodas.

Project wonderful wasn’t even a glimmer in Ryan North’s eye when this comic was popular.
Yeah I’ve tried it, results were unspectacular. This site doesn’t get much traffic, you see. About a thousandth of the traffic flipside gets, and the revenue is a similar fraction.
