Hell with ad revenue. Sure, you can rely on it for sporadic few bucks when a fan needs to build a $5000 server, but that’s not going to get you anywhere. It’s nice to have, but maybe you should also sell some merchandise.

I imagine the choice would be nothing for several weeks verses a week of WTF amateur comics from Deviant-tartists followed by critical analysis of said works. Perhaps you could consider it a public service…

Besides, I’m not so sure Greg Dean, “Krazy Krow”, Michael Poe, and Fred Gallagher are really much of a threat to you despite the fact they tend to do exactly as I said (a week or two off at times with guest artists). For every individual with talent, there’s at least a hand full of wannabees who want a taste of the limelight…

Like the man said, this is something popular webcomics do, the unspoken transaction is that the newbies get exposure in exchange for art. It’s only a temporary thing usually, like a week’s vacation extravaganza. There’s no “even” about it, it’s something only the popular ones can do.
