The many wonders of Jesus and his fantabulous dad

Ah yes the many wonders of Church and religious instruction. Sending your kids to Catholic school is a great way to breed atheists, in my experience. Gotta love the expression of the kid in the background.

Speaking of atheism, been reading a lot lately, of course there’s Rich Dawkins and his God delusion, but I’ve also picked up lesser known but equally interesting books from Sam Harris, the end of faith and Dan Dennet, Breaking the Spell. All pretty good reads.

Thanks to whoever bought the Asus A626 3.5″ PDA and the others who bough a handful of manga, this month we managed to get almost 20$ off amazon. Not exactly retirement money though. Remember evey single purchase from Amazon counts towards the monthly total so even if the commission is tiny, it can help bump the total commission from 4 to 6% meaning a little bit more cash off larger ticket purchases like the PDA or others that occasionally crop up.

Oh btw here’s the poster for the new Batman movie if anyone cares.

Batman and other DC heroes are going to appear in a crossover game with Mortal Kombat. Hmm, it will be worth it just to see all the fatalities on Superman…

(Reading further there appears to be no fatalities in this game, natch…)

Also, I forgot to mention Paul Robertson of Pirate Baby fame, finished his new movie, Kings of Power 4 billion %. I even put a mirror of it up on this site, but totally forgot to mention it here. Doh.

Plenty of ‘em in Korea. Immigration to the US had it’s routes in Evangelical ministries, thus most stateside gookers dance the Jesus jig.

    The strip isn’t a slam, btw…

Dads are great, aren’t they? Especially when liquor is involved.

Following the ‘anime portraits’ link to the convention schedule, I see that Otakon is coming up. In my back yard! Probably cannot go this year. However if certain kimchi-eating yo-boys werer to show up…well, that would be different! ( and no, I am not talking about these yodes!)

    hyun jin | Email | Homepage | 07.25.03 - 7:27 pm | #

a cracker buddhist… hehe, at least you see the truth. Damn christians and their “break anything you want,as long as your sorry” mentality. Every god damn christian person I know sins like anyone else, but its ok, since Jesus loves you anyways. Bah. You’ll all see when your stupid sinning got your karma to too low of a capacity

    sibbie | Email | Homepage | 07.25.03 - 9:49 pm | #

Not all Christians are like that. Nor are all buddhists. Generalizations will only get you in trouble. Or at the very least be wrong at a bad time.

The expression on little Hyung (lil’ Kim?) in that bootom left panel is just awesome.

No wait - the whole damn thing is awesome. But especially that bottom left.

    Jac | Email | Homepage | 07.26.03 - 10:03 am | #

so im guessing hyung always wore an apron since birth? being nailed to the cross pwnz!! or not

    …..

I don’t know why I’m offended, but somehow I mildly am. Sure, many of you will say I’ve got a stick up my ass, but come on. There *are* people who actually believe in the guy. Jesus, I mean.

Not that I blame most of you, though. Some Christians go way out of their way.

    rufiangel | Email | Homepage | 07.27.03 - 5:54 am | #

No problem with being offended. I ended up treatening Hyung with death, and all he did was give me a birthday present.

(It was the equivilent of drawing a Modern Japanese-American husband of a Korean-American wife dressed in WW II garb, making comments about Korean comfort girls, but hey I did over react a bit.)

    DFG | Email | Homepage | 07.27.03 - 11:10 am | #

    Hmmm…
    I’m Jewish.
    So I don’t care.

Unfortunately I also fit in very well with the what’s his name otaku ronin that was featured round here a while ago, so I can’t say anything…

Frankly, I don’t care about “religion” per se. I’m an orthodox jew, but I don’t wear black or go to synagogue every day. I choose to be an orthodox jew for the preservation of the Jewish culture.

I don’t like the whole idea of “conversion”, it’s all just teenage angst. And after you’ve converted it’s too late to go back.

That’s why Chinese should be Confucian (or some other one of the 8 Disciplines) /Buddhists while Japanese should be Buddhist/Shintoists.

Americans should be Protestants, and some can be Catholics if they like.

Religion in general, sucks. But culture, if great. So believe in Jesus, heck, for all I care idolize Hyung, but preservation of culture is important.

That’s why I don’t like no stinkin liberals. I’m a conservative democaratic socialist myself.

    Muhahaha…

If anything, I think that this comic is poking at the ruthless expansionism of Christianity. Them peeps just need to chill yo!

    Kurt Dunniehue | Email | Homepage | 07.27.03 - 1:20 pm | #

I thought it was poking fun at Korean parents who drag their kids to church for dumb reasons.

    demodokhos | Email | Homepage | 07.27.03 - 3:13 pm | #

grag. obviously not many people who read kungfool are very serious about christianity… or religion in general.

    hyun jin | Email | Homepage | 07.27.03 - 6:12 pm | #

oops sorry.. are *not*. wasnt looking while i was typing…

    hyun jin | Email | Homepage | 07.27.03 - 6:13 pm | #

It is better to take religion lightly than to take religion seriously.

[/speaking as someone who learned that the hard way]

lol I had the sunday school experience, I would draw stick figures in the back of my book the whole time, and I was always Jesus when we would act out parts of the bible.

  3. empraptor Says:

I wouldn’t mind being Jesus and being nailed on a cross as long as hot chicks were doing it.

  4. Neo Kojiro Says:

He’d bust out like a skinny Guinea in wifebeaters.

  5. KurtDunn Says:

    Ahhh the classics.

When is H.S. Kim coming back btw?

  6. CrazyDave Says:

Have faith, and he shall rise again. I think that’s one of the signs of the apocalypse isn’t it.

p.s. have you seen Holy Bibble yet? Webcomic version of the bible. Complete with argumentative (fake) authors.

  7. Nestor Says:

He’ll come back when the site generates enough money, no sooner, no later. Otherwise the man has to work to eat, take care of filial duties, and buy drugs to blot out the pain of existence.

  8. mg Says:

yo, quick question, what comment service was kungfoolx using (the old comment box and all)? i can’t remember the name and website of it… any help’d be appreciated.

  9. Nestor Says:

    Haloscan.com

  10. Freelance Says:

When it generates enough money? Shit we’re screwed aren’t we? At least we’ll have the memories.

This strip was good commentary how religion works in the US, as I live in one of the great “atheist nations” of the world (take a guess!), I’ll have you know that the average Joe around here haven’t got a clue just how religious the yanks are. It’s quite scary to watch US news on the subject as it’s almost like an alien mindset presenting itself.
Just a few weeks ago I talked with a Christian that felt oppressed because he felt he couldn’t profess his own faith openly without being labelled a whackjob. I almost felt bad for going Richard Dawkins on his ass.

  11. Kreton Says:

What remains to be posted? I wondering if I should stash it all on a dvd >.<

  12. tigrress Says:

For the record…(since no one is probably going to see this comment)… Not all US-ians are frickin crazy Christian nutjobs… There are a few sane religious types… Not that I’m one of them. I like science and equality for all (religions or other such).
