Ho ho ho ho. Never paid attention to that.

About Amazon referrals, don't they stay active for up to two weeks or is it two days? If you visit Amazon often, perhaps the referral is deemed to come from some other source?

And that Machine Girl link was BUY BUY BUY!

For those of you out there not voting for this comic, you're missing awesome coincidences like this:

Meh, I've tangles with the RIAA before. Just need to boobytrap the house and hide in a hole in the ground for a few months

I swear I ordered it off Amazon through a link on the front page, though! I also ordered Young Miles at the same time. If it didn't get through as a referal, this would be the 2nd time its happened to me.

You lie 4non, no Futurama movie has been ordered, unless you only did it yesterday, which means you couldn't have it delivered yet, which would mean you have watched it through illegal means!

I am forwarding your ip address to the RIAA right now, missy!

If you’re gonna keep shoving old scrap drawings up there, Nestor, i demand either the four Soul Calibur images, or the one with May being tentacle raped half-off-screen and Mi Sung carrying a box of dildos.

Don't have 'em. Nyah!

It's an old drawing; i recall having seen it before. That aside, the fact that it's of Chen and May in ancient chinese clothes (with guan dao) is an idea that hasn't been elaborated on for some time, thus meaning it's rather unlikely that it was made recently.

As for the Futurama clip: how the hell can Stephen Hawking actually guest-appear in ANYTHING? It's just a computerised voice, damn it.

I watched the Futurama movie that I [this is for you, Nestor] GOT OFF AMAZON WHEN I CLICKED THE REFERRAL LINK.

And it truly was epic. And I'm not ashamed to say I wept with joy through most of it. So go and buy like good capitalists so we can all get a chance to see the other three movies they have yet to come out with!

Well, it wasn't just any explosion, but one from a bomb dropped from an airplane. Or something like that. I just tried to find the specific page, but gave up and used Google to find a page that mentions a condition called "blast lung" which sounds like it's the right one:

"Blast lung injury (BLI) is a direct consequence of the high-order explosive over-pressurization wave. It is the most common fatal primary blast injury among initial survivors. Signs of blast lung are usually present at the time of initial evaluation, but they have been reported as late as 48 hours after the explosion. Blast lung is characterized by the clinical triad of apnea, bradycardia, and hypotension."

And I guess just airtight would do. It was the only attribute of a hermetic seal that I knew of, though I figured that any additional protection against chemicals and bioweapons would be worth it to protect the very expensive armored exoskeleton. Because you know that once a vulnerability is found, and all soldiers wear the armor, all enemies will want to use the few weapons that would be effective. Don't bring a gun to a bomb-fight. ;)

Ok, maybe even an exoskeleton wouldn't be able to wear enough armor to protect against one of those big sniper rifles, so perhaps that'd be a reason to not use them. Except to quell riots?

Hermetically sealed or just air tight? Even so, I knew quite a few people that were in vehicles that took direct hits from RPGs and ball bearing IEDs and outside of some hearing damage and nasty headaches they were no worse for wear (not counting the ones that died from shrapnel wounds of course). These vehicles were far from air tight to begin with and no one died from lung collapse or anything like that.

Yeah, well, an exoskeleton isn't very effective in combat, except for the guy who's loading the gun on the AC-130 gunship maybe. But with all that strength availible you could attach a lot of heavy armor to the exoskeleton, which is when you get the goddamn power armor. Though given the trouble of even getting regular body armor for the soldiers in Iraq, I don't think that power armor will be used for quite some time. And there are probably plenty of technical problems that have to be solved, involving such things as balance and momentum.

And then there's the issue of the power for the armor. Having a portable battery probably works if the exoskeleton isn't lifting stuff all the time, but if it constantly has to lift the weight of the armor, a lot more power would have to be used. Stationary guards could probably hook themselves up to a power grid, but if they're going to be stationary, why not just build something to take cover behind?

And I read in Yellow Moon that the air pressure from an explosion is enough to damage a person's lungs, so that even if they survive the impact, they'll still die soon enough. Power armor won't protect against that unless perhaps it can be hermetically sealed. (And I generously assume that this was researched and not just made up.)

But hey, it's a start. Hail to the Immortal Emperor or something.
