Asuka, Rei and Misato, from Evangelion

fanart requested by some Finn, apparently.

Oh and speaking of pilots, this

20071108_testhelmet_600x400

Is what the new RAF fighter pilot helmets for the joint strike fighter look like. Looks sort of like a bored, yet polite Zylon.

Apparenty with this on the pilot can see through the fuselage by looking through external mounted cameras. Pretty nifty!

Oh yeah apparently Friday 23rd of November is some sort of big spending day in America, Black Friday or something?
Anyway Amazon has a dedicated page full of offers running through the whole day

according to them “On Black Friday Amazon.com won’t have a cold, dark parking lot to line up in, but we will have a bunch of great deals to help you and your site visitors get holiday shopping done for less. This year we’ve created a Black Friday page for holiday shoppers at www.amazon.com/blackfriday. Amazon.com will be offering hourly deals from 6am to 6pm PST along with thousands of products on sale for a limited time. Also, customers will get gift wrapping for $.99 per item. So, let your site visitors know that this year they shouldn’t fight the crowds when they can shop online at Amazon.com from the comfort of their own homes.”

Not to be outdone, Things From Another World, Dark Horse’s online comic shop
is offering a free domestic shipping promo code for black friday on orders over 15 bucks (Coupon code: BlackFriday)
edit: promo ended!

Ain’t these capitalists nice?

I don’t even want to think about going anywhere to spend money. I’ve been raise in the cult of consumerism and it still gives me the heebee geebies.

  2. RGE Says:

I read a poll which said that tomorrow Saturday would be a no-shopping day to protest against consumerism. Do they protest right after the big spending day?

And I thought it was spelled “jeebies”. Google says 404,000 vs 15,500. Are you being subversive? :-)

  3. DFG Says:

Quibble all you like. I count what’s said here as more the written form of a dialog, so the rules are kind of relaxed.

  4. Anonymous Says:

Protest against consumerism? Why not do some kind of shitty AIDS walk against it? They’re both about as effective. The only way to truely protest against consummerism is to live out self-sufficiently in the sticks, and no one who gives a fuck about consumerism has the skills to do that; best they have is hippie tent-pitching skills.

  5. Freelance Says:

Rei’s eyes aren’t even half as vacant as they should be *tsk* *tsk*! :D

  6. DFG Says:

    So another mouse heard from.

No can do mouse, and that’s not protesting, that’s running away.

Now that I’m older, I’m glad my family doesn’t celebrate Christmas since I don’t have to buy jack shit for anyone. Was it worth missing out on a portion of my childhood when every other kid in school got a pile of presents? Yes. I’m just that lazy.

  8. empraptor Says:

I have no problem buying nothing for people I know in the name of fighting consumerism.

  9. DFG Says:

There is more to it that the pile of presents you do realize? 4n0n, does you family have some sort of time where everybody eats good food and gives each other presents?

  10. 4n0nym0u5 Says:

Yeah. We all call it a funeral.
