For the Good Times
Thursday, July 19th, 2007 by KrazykimchiBlack and white is good.
It really is the best way to draw a comic. Fast simple lines, a bit of tone, a bit of hatchings. The immediacy and the abstract quality of the lines… done well, the effect is far more efficient then any prose or photo.
But the color makes ya’ happy. Like this nice big close up.
I was gonna “pop’ this bit of Flash drawing for old times sake before moving on to the meat, the finishing of the Chateau story. But after work errands and this and that, this is all I have to show for the two days… makes me wonder how I produced the hundreds of pages of incomplete comics as it is.
And I linked to the worng Carl Sagan Youtube vid Monday.
It’s this one, We are here: Pale Blue Dot. This one has montages of movie clip along with Sagan’s commentary, a la Academy Awards style. Actual footage, real and news could be better but this one does have a more emotional connection– certainly a lot more then the BORING earth and space slide show I linked to last time.

Might be time for the ole donation bar? 100 bucks, new page of kill harry/chateau/glendale/kung fool (depending on what the donation is for), otherwise you post quickie sketches, photos and stuff.

Nice pic. The Charlie Brown shirt is kinda nostalgic. Strangely, there is no crucifix near Trout ….

flat flood fills are worse than grayscale tones, imho

Huh, so he’s blonde…
Better video, but the clips seem like a typical AMV at times, like the author just grabbed a word or phrase and linked it to a literal visual reference that doesn’t really convey the idea.

Hyung, yes, for you please stick to black/white/grey, you do it very well and it’s fast.

“But the color makes ya’ happy.”
Content makes us happy. If presumably you create fresh content when you are happy, then we want nothing more then to make you happy HS.
Of course if you were the kind of artist that only feels creative when the world is bearing down on them and depression has completely sapped your ability to do anything but draw funny pictures. . . Well, that can be arranged too.

You produced so many pages of work by being dedicated to your hobby. You’d actually work on it as opposed to slacking off in front of the computer and/or TV and/or maybe going outside for whatever godless reason.
I really don’t think Hagin’s blonde. Probably just a dye-job, or just Hyung screwing around with colors. Besides, i refuse to believe any artist of any half-way worth would show blonde hair as black when not in color. Of course, i’d say the same with red or brown hair when there’s color being shown as blondish when there’s not, but i faintly recall at least one idiot doing something like that.
Also, is it just me, or does Trout remind anyone else of girl-type Ranma Saotome?

I already suffered through the boring Pale Blue Dot, so I’m not going to watch the emotional montage version. All world leaders should be forced to study astronomy so they get the right perspective, huh?
I like fun stuff. Incidently, DeviantArt ads refuse to go away when I click to continue on to the art. I’ve found that I have to click in the address field and press ENTER in order to go directly to the art instead of getting a new ad. Strange.

I didn’t notice this was deviantart.

Trout’s cute. And Hagan’s cute. It seems like the picture was taken when they were in college.

Do you still start with a paper sketch and then move to digitize? And is this Flash, or is it Illustrator?

That’s creepy as hell. Please suck out the colors and make them look wrinkly.

Hah! My hypothesis was correct! Everyone IS a critic.
I shall call it…. Four-non’s First Law of General Human Assholery.
Anyone who has follow-up laws can submit them to me so I can take full credit for them.

The second law should be that everyone needs a bosom for a pillow.
