More than meets the eye

So anyone catch that transformers flick? I hear mixed reviews, but mostly positive, from the “oh god please don’t fuck up my childhood” crowd. The lukewarm ones are probably people who weren’t quite so invested in giant robots in disguise in the first place.

Of course for maximum childhood ruining efficiency I hear the Japanese kiss players series (where the transformers are powered by kisses from little girls) does a fine job

JESUS MONKEYPANTS IN SPACE
a rreally great webcomic, only 16 pages of it but well worth a look.

I also signed us up to the EVE online affiliate program, so we get a commission if we manage to turn any of you into mindless mmorpg zombies. Come on, try it! It has a free 14 day trial!

EVE is a spaceship based MMORPG with a single persistent game world, complex player driven economy and very deep gameplay (i.e. it’s damn complicated) It has some neat features like being able to train skills when you’re not logged in so there’s not an overwhelming need to grind, and it can be a lot of fun. I played for about a month and a half last year with the SA goonswarm guild, whose favourite tactic is swarming huge enemy starships with inferior ships but overwhelming numbers.

We have plans to see it. So far I’ve mostly heard that it isn’t a wretched mess and the CGI looks pretty enough. I’ve been coloring over at http://www.rocr.net/ now and then. Also camping (no-see-um’s are evil! the size of a mustard seed with the bite of a hippo).

  2. Nestor Says:

rocr was the first webcomic I ever found. I read about 5 of them and then never looked at it again, I think it was the cerebus cameo that did it.

  3. Cathoholic Says:

Wait now, where did this come from? Did Hyung send this to you, or is it something else you dug out?

  4. Kree Says:

I haven’t seen this picture in ages. If I remember correctly it was drawn to fulfill a request by someone, and I then spent 3 weeks begging to get a little mermaid picture made. I wish I could remember what exactly I had wanted.

  5. Kiki Says:

Little mermaid? I like where this is going…

That would be your loss nestor.

Ah, Salah al Din; Didja know his first name was Joe?

I can’t remember if it was Aimo or Eisu that was doing work on this.

  8. Nestor Says:

I’m not saying rocr is bad mind, it just failed to capture my attention

  9. Almightyshoe Says:

    :P

Hard to catch something so SMALL.

  10. DFG Says:

Why the heck? both the anon and the Almightyshoe was me. go figure

  11. Nestor Says:

Just how many of the comment box regulars are you anyway?

  12. RGE Says:

She’s not me, because I’ve read more than five pages of RoCR and I don’t really feel like reading the whole “The Green Knight’s Belt” story. Think I’d rather go replay my computer game.
